Its getting there, but I won't see any performance improvements until around beta 2, especially for consumer features.

This won't improve until around B2
Hopefully they'll add in features in Setup, such as things like "What sort of user are you?" to determine which services will be running etc. to save you memory :o)
That'd be cool!

Yes, they have already started with Time Zone setting, so I expect to see those included by beta 2. The good thing though, is that not everyone will be granted Administrator rights in Vista, although it will be a Admin account it will have low level rights based on the new security feature, User Account Protection. -- Andre Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta FAQ for MS AntiSpy http://www.geocities.com/marfer_mvp/FAQ_MSantispy.htm

Yeah...
that would helps a lot, if you are asked if you have a wlan, so start the wi-fi service, if you have a digital camera the same, that will save system resources depending on your profile

That would be nice, Zack, if they were to add in the type of user you are, but I'm wondering if they'd really do that with an OS. I can see it happening with third party applications, such as Zone Alarm, but it may be a stretch for Vista. :-{
Vista: What type of user are you? Choose one; novice - intermediate - knowledgeable - guru...
I'm thinking of two guys right here in my subdivision who would actually choose "guru!" Both of whom have had to come to me for help. :-}
For myself, I'd answer Intermediate.

So did I, on 5231, and this has been such a bad build on my desktop that I'm skipping trying for putting 5270 on Lappy.

Its a different story on my laptop, it works right out the box, but I rarely boot into it, the desktop is where all the fun is at. I just hope the Feb. No, you're wrong. Beta is a state of development, it's a time rather than a product itself. Every product must go through a beta stage... even whether the developer knows it or not ;o) There WILL be a Beta 2, but it will also be portrayed as the April CTP because of consistency throughout the program.
Beta 2 will be public... the April CTP will be public :o)
